The Blow Up range for Alessi was created by the Campana brothers - Fernando (an architect) and Humberto (originally a lawyer, before he began designing furniture). Famed for their stunning designs, they combine unlikely materials, found objects and industrial rubbish into decadent and opulent items - each with its own "zest for life" and a celebration of the discarded and mundane. The Blow Up range is typical of their lively, vibrant Brazilian approach; each piece is made from short lengths of mirror polished steel which have been transformed to give a highly functional object - a basket, a clock, an umbrella stand or magazine rack - all of which have a striking chaotic and haphazard appearance which will make a bold statement in any contemporary setting.
