These Burgon and Ball American scoops act as an extension of the hand, allowing far tighter holes to be dug than with a conventional trowel. With their serrated edge they literally scoop out a ball of soil rather like an ice cream scoop, making them perfect for planting in tightly packed borders where you want to minimise the disturbance to surrounding plants. Made from stainless steel with a wooden handle they are available in two sizes - the smaller potting scoop (25cm long) and a larger soil scoop (30 cm long).
